The County dredge fleet is comprised of:

The Cod Fish that was originally purchased in 1997 and has done most of the dredge work on Cape Cod. A second dredge, the Sand Shifter was added in 2017, and a third dredge the Cod Fish II was purchased in 2019, both from Ellicott Dredges. In addition, several work skiffs are also in operation.

In addition to the reduced rates for dredging services, the County conducts Pre & Post Dredge Surveys at a cost of approximately $6,000 per project. This additional service are invaluable records in the event of a damaging hurricane or other weather events for submission to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as documentation of storm damages and funding reimbursements.

In total, over the past 24 years, the County dredges have removed approximately 2.1 million cubic yards of material from 289 projects. 95% of that material went to rebuilding the beaches around Cape Cod. The County Dredge program on average provides dredge services at a rate of 65% below the market rate.

The Barnstable County Dredge Codfish provides dredging service to towns at approximately 70% below the market rate. The dredged material has been used to successfully renourish many of the Cape's beaches, while at the same time allowing ease of navigation in several harbors and riverways.
